Building a Lasting Legacy

Background

Brief

The Cotswold District Council was in need of a brand identity refresh to enhance consistency, accessibility, and recognition across all platforms. The aim was to create a fresh, modern, and easily adaptable identity system that empowers pride, honours the rich heritage of the Cotswolds and reflects the momentum of the council members.

Solution

Having carried out a brand audit of the previous identity and comprehensive stakeholder interviews, we were able to define a brand archetype and narrative for the new brand identity. The Cotswolds County District has implemented the Cotswolds coat of arms since 1974 and so the new identity included a modernised and refined iteration of this shield, ensuring a strong connection to the history and heritage of the district. Additional elements of the identity included a graphic device and design system, along with comprehensive brand guidelines. We were then able to work with the new identity to design collateral for the identity’s launch. This included ID cards, lanyards and powerpoint templates.

Brand Purpose
